Izutsumi reels back with a horrified yowl, but the whole sword-through-the-face and also decapitation thing doesn't result in the expected spray of blood. They then proceed to turn to dust, but not before she glimpses the insides of their heads, which isn't brain and squishy things, it's metal and bright colored... string? Or something?
She's left utterly baffled, dropping down to the crouch over the pavement where she thinks fragments of the dust they turned into might remain. Or it might just, you know. Regular dust. Nonetheless she picks some up to rub between her clawed fingers, sniffing tentatively at it.
So they were monsters of some kind? Laois would be so disappointed nothing remained for him to eat. Then again, they were humanoid, which is against his rules of What Monsters Are Good To Eat.
The guy that did the sword stabbing is probably the coolest thing that Izutsumi has ever been exposed to, and yet, tragically, it's utterly wasted on her. "What were they?" she asks, lip curled in a confused and irritated little frown. "They had weird metal junk inside, what kind of person has metal inside them?" She pauses, her frown deepens, and she adds, "What kind of person has metal inside them, and also chooses to flirt with something like me? This world is stupid."
